David Chevan PhD An open-minded passion for music and love of playing the bass has led him to explore a wide range of musical realms from singing in synagogue to playing bass in gospel groups. As an educator he directs and arranges for various ensembles and has developed a series of college level applied courses to teach improvisation for musicians of all abilities and skill levels. In addition to performing duos with pianist Warren Byrd and co-leading the Afro-Semitic Experience, he directs, plays bass, composes and writes arrangements for the Nu Haven Kapelye, and Bassology, his swinging jazz group. With the Afro-Semitic Experience he has brought people together to share the nexus of music and culture in synagogues, churches, clubs, colleges and at jazz festivals across the U.S.
